More About Me

I love to travel although I don't get to do it as much as I'd like. I've only been to Canada & the US. As a kid most of my traveling consisted of visiting family and/or camping in various regions of Alberta & Saskatchewan Canada. When I was 8 we did a trip through British Columbia and went to Vancouver and Victoria. Later when I was 13 we went to California (my first trip out of Canada) and went to Disneyland, Midevil Times, Universals Studios... it was a lot of fun. In 2005 my friend and I drove through BC and spent a couple nights in Langley before heading down to Seattle. It was such a nice city, we saw the Space Needle, Zoo, Aquarium, did a harbour cruise and went to the Experience Music Project (I wouldn't recommend going there on a Saturday, it was insanely busy). I really wanted to see Pike Place Market, but we ran out of time. I would go back to Seattle again. My dream trip came true when my mom said she was going to New York City to meet her penpal (who she's written to for the last 30 years) and said I could come along. We saw Hairspray on Broadway, went to Ground Zero, The Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, 5th Ave, and a lot more. The only thing I hated was our trip was only a few days, and I didn't get to see everything I wanted to. Last May some friends and I decided to drive to Las Vegas. We drove through Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona (making a diversion to the Grand Canyon for a few hours... so beautiful) and of course Nevada. We stayed at The Stratosphere, it's a nice hotel and on the strip but a bit too far from the other hotels to walk to. We checked out Paris, Bellagio, Luxor, MGM, New York New York and a ton more. We also saw O the Cirque Du Soleil show, which I would suggest because it was amazing. Well that's pretty much everywhere that I've been to so far. I'd really like to see more of my own country, since I've never been further east than the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border. I'd also like to see some more places in the US like; New Orleans, Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Orlando, etc, etc... pretty much anywhere. I'd also like to go to Belize, Barbados, Argentina, Peru, Egypt, Israel, do a safari in Tanzania, Morocco, Greece, Spain, France, England, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, etc, etc, etc... basically I really want to travel all over the world. This September I'm going to do the European Horizon tour and I can't wait!! I'm just a typical 23 year old Canadian girl. Other than a great interest in traveling, I love pretty much every type of music there is from rap to country to jazz to rock and everything else there is. I play piano and sing (although not seriously) and I eventually want to go to school to become a music therapist. I also love musicals on stage and on film, some of my favourites are; Rent, Les Miserables, Cabaret & Sweeney Todd. I enjoy watching movies; Back To The Future Trilogy, Big, Millions, Bend It Like Beckham, Almost Famous, Ed Wood, Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas and Dazed & Confused are some of my favourites. I also love to read, the most recent book I've read was The Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson... it was excellent and I'm looking to read more of his works. I love learning about different cultures, history, religions, philosophies...I consider myself pretty open minded. I also like to just go out and have a good time with my friends. Mostly that means going out to see a musical or show, going to the movies, eating out, attending a festival, bowling, etc. Yeah that's pretty much me... my friends would probably say I'm odd and have a strange sense of humour, especially if I haven't had a lot of sleep. People who don't know me might think I'm shy, because I tend to be a bit introverted if I don't know anyone. I'm pretty laid back and down to earth, unless someone is being really rude or ignorant then I generally don't have a problem with people. "Hope the best. Expect the worst. My Recent Comments

  1. The airline I’m flying with has a 15kg weight limit, for checked baggage. I’m going to do a lot of shuffling to try and only check one bag. If not I’ll check a small duffle bag and then put everything in one suitcase once I get to London… damn checked baggage restrictons.

  2. The thing I really loved about Las Vegas was that there was tons to do. My friends and I went down last year, and everyone said all we would do is gamble. But there was so many other things we wanted to see and do. In fact all I spent was $30 on gambling, for the whole 6 days I was there.

And good walking shoes are a must. And definitely try to go to a Cirque Du Soleil show. I saw O and it was incredible.

  3. I work at an airport and eating at the restaurants there can cost $10-20 a day or more… so I know if I start bringing my lunch to work I’ll have money save in no time. I’m also use the money I’m getting back from my income tax return to help pay for my trip.

  4. Jasper is a really great national park, you’ll definitely see some wildlife like big horn sheep and moose. If you want some thrills go white water rafting or take the tram. In the winter there’s skiinng which is supposed to be good, although I don’t ski. A trip to the Miette Hot Springs is also really nice. And apparently the local pizza parlour in town has some of the best pizza.

  5. Vancouver is a great city. I loved going to Stanley Park and checking out the Aquarium. Science World is a lot of fun too… I haven’t been there since I was a kid. There’s a ton to do in Vancouver, lot’s of great shopping too. And if you have time after your tour take a ferry over to Vancouver Island and spend a couple days checking out the island and BC’s capital city Victoria – The Butchart Gardens are really nice. Or if you rent a car drive across to the US border and visit Seattle, it’s only a couple hours away, and also has a lot to see and do.

  6. Even though Contiki doesn’t go to Seattle I would highly reccomend visiting this city. Especially if your tour ends in Vancouver, it’s only a couple hours drive on the I-5. Seattle is a very lovely and laidback city, and despite the rumours, it doesn’t rain 24/7. Of course you have to check out the view from the Space Needle, do a harbour cruise, see the aquarium, check out Pike Place, there’s just a ton to do in this city. If you’re an aviation enthusiast then check out The Museum Of Flight. A music lover will enjoy the EMP. If you go to http://www.citypass.com/city/seattle.html you can get a pass for several atrractions and save yourself some money. I loved Seattle and will definitely go back again.
